Chicken Island is a low, flat, 1.95 ha island in south-eastern Australia. It is part of the Maatsuyker Island Group, lying close to the southern end of the south-western coast of Tasmania. It is part of the Southwest National Park, and thus within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Site.[1]
The vegetation is dominated by Sarcocornia quinqueflora and Senecio lautus. Recorded breeding seabird and wader species are the Little Penguin, Short-tailed Shearwater, Fairy Prion, Common Diving-Petrel, Pacific Gull, Silver Gull, Sooty Oystercatcher and Caspian Tern.[1]
